Another short piece for you today, I saw this one by Darya Ivashkina, for the Komsomolka. It’s brief enough and clear enough, don’t really need any explication or footnotes; hence I can just translate the whole thing and be done with it. The only introductory comment I need to make is this: The election of Donald Trump as President of the U.S., which happened exactly one week ago, has apparently set in motion a chain of events with implications for Ukraine and the Russian world. Trump has already spoken with Putin on the phone, and who knows what deals they already made? But I don’t mean to incite a lot of conspiracy talk, just sayin’….
On Wednesday 16 November, the former Deputy of the Supreme ZRada, Igor Markov, stated that the U.S.A. is pulling its operatives (FBI and CIA) out of Kiev.
In Markin’s words: Associates of the American special services who were quartered in the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s offices, as well as at the SBU, have already left Ukrainian territory. They have been “expeditiously transferred” to Romania and the Czech Republic. As the politician stated, all of this speaks to the fact that the U.S. is “quietly” abandoning the Ukraine.
“Just a week ago,” Markin told the Ukrainian media, “all the representatives of the FBI, who were housed in the General Prosecutor’s Office, and all the representatives of the CIA, who were housed in the SBU, were swiftly relocated to Romania and the Czech Republic. For the security forces, this was a clear signal that the U.S. is quietly abandoning Ukraine. The only people who remain are some analysts, the actual operatives have all left.”
