Today’s Catfight: Samantha Power vs Maria Zakharova

Dear Readers:

Today I have a juicy catfight between two powerful international ladies.  The background is an incident which happened yesterday (Saturday), this was a big international breaking news story so I don’t need to cover it in detail.  Here is the Reuters version.  The basic fact is that American jets bombed the crap out of Syrian soldiers defending the Deir al-Zor airport against jihadist forces.  These air strikes allowed Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists to temporarily over-run Syrian army positions.  Thus proving in the eyes of Moscow (as well in the eyes of anybody in the world who has been following this saga and who has half a brain-stem glued inside their skull) that the American government IS ACTUALLY ON THE SIDE OF THE TERRORISTS – Say it ain’t so, Shoeless Joe – (gasp) !

Deir al-Zor is to Syria as Stalingrad was to the Soviet Union

In fact, people who read my blog know that I occasionally translate analytical pieces by Evgeny Krutikov, who writes a lot about the Syria war; and that Krutikov has been teaching us patiently since Day #1 that the town of Deir al-Zor is THE KEY to winning or losing this war.  Sadly, the Americans read Krutikov as well, and they probably decided to start thinking more strategically about how to destroy the legitimate Syrian government and replace it with a headchopper government.  But enough of the backstory, let’s get straight to the catfight.

Masha: “You’re WITH the terrorists!”

Sammy: “Who, me?”

Maria started the catfight when she issued the following statement, after the American attack against the Syrian army:  “If earlier we nurtured certain suspicions that Al-Nusra was being protected [by the Americans], then after today’s attacks against the Syrian army, we are coming to a conclusion that is full of horror for the entire world:  The White House is supporting ISIS.”

No shit, Sherlock.

The Russians then proceeded to call an emergency session of the Security Council.   America’s Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power was wounded to the quick by Russia’s reaction and specifically by Zakharova’s remarks.   Quoting this news feed:

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power is expressing regret for the loss of life in a U.S. airstrike in Syria that may have struck Syrian government troops, but is accusing Russia of pulling a “stunt” by calling for an emergency Security Council meeting over the incident.

Power said the U.S. is investigating the incident in remarks made outside the Security Council chamber Saturday night as Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin was condemning the U.S. airstrike inside the closed meeting.

She told reporters that “Even by Russia’s standards tonight’s stunt — a stunt replete with moralism and grandstanding — is uniquely cynical and hypocritical.”

She noted that Russia had never called an emergency consultation to condemn Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime “for some of the most systematic atrocities we have seen in a generation” — striking civilian targets, preventing humanitarian aid from reaching starving people, using chemical weapons or torturing tens of thousands of prisoners.

She also says a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson should be “embarrassed” for issuing a statement suggesting that the airstrike indicated that the U.S. was complicit in trying to help IS.

Zakharova’s Response

Samantha never disappoints.  But then what can one expect from a sociopathic war criminal who lacks any empathy for other human beings, yet poses to the world her false face as a humanitarian?

For Zakharova’s rebuttal to Sammy’s rant, I have this piece from VZGLIAD.  Unlike Power, Zakharova is a real human being with real emotions.  Agree with her, or disagree with her, she is an authentic human being.  And she is not at all like any other diplomat that ever worked in Russia, or any other place.  Zakharova posted her fiery and emotional rebuttal on her Facebook page, and I hereby translate her quote in full from Russian to English:

TRANSLATION

Dear Samantha Power, in order for you to know the meaning of the word “embarrassed”, I advise you to travel to Syria and talk to the people who live there.  And I don’t mean the Al-Nusra people, nor the Moderate Opposition, to whom Washington is so concerned about delivering humanitarian aid.  Nor with the people living in the West who are fighting for the glorious future of that country [Syria].  I mean, with the people who actually live there [in Syria], despite the fact that for the past six years their country has become the target of a blood-drenched experiment with the active participation of Washington.

Zakharova knows how to dish it out.

I myself communicate with Syrians on a regular basis.  With representatives of the Opposition from (various) Syrian towns; with children who have been orphaned and who come to Russia for rest and rehabilitation.  Also with journalists.

Why don’t we go there together?  I will pay all the expenses (for our trip).  I guarantee that this will not be just an excursion through U.N. safe corridors for those who have been scorned and abused [irony].  No, our excursion will be more interesting than that.  Please agree to my proposal.  Don’t be afraid.  Nobody will touch you if I am there with you.

Well, and if it so happens that “your guys” once again “by mistake” of course end up dropping bombs on us, well, then you will certainly have a story to tell.  And then you will learn what it actually means to be “embarrassed”.

And regarding your fine words that the U.S. cannot support those who chop off the heads of Americans, I am hereby texting you a photograph from Wikipedia entitled, “President Ronald Reagan meets with a delegation of of Mujaheddin in the White House, 1983.”

Wow, Zakharova is real! The West has trouble dealing with real people – they can’t deal with anyone who does not have a Pavlovian response to money or power.

You would get the impression from it that it was Russia who had bombed American allies ‘by mistake’.. The gall of Powers, or as they say in France, “the gaul“…

If you hover your mouse over the photo it reads:
“In a 2014 file photo, Samantha Power (R), the American Ambassador to the United Nations, talks to Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Churkin, before a vote regarding the Ukrainian crisis is taken at the U.N. Security Council in New York…”

It’s a stock photo! Neuters got lazy.
